01 · Request and confirmation

A website request is not an automatic booking.

Andrea checks availability, bike fit, accessories, timing, price and deposit. Your rental is confirmed only when Bike Rental Bologna sends the agreed details and payment instructions in writing.

How to request a bike

Use the reservation form for a complete request, or send Andrea a written WhatsApp message for a practical question. Include the pickup and return dates and times, preferred bike type, number of riders, heights or sizes, route or luggage details and any required accessories. The confirmed email contains the final rental details, payment instructions and any additional information needed before pickup.

Recommended notice

• For 1 to 5 bicycles, send the request at least 24 hours before the intended pickup.
• For 6 or more bicycles, send the request at least 10 working days before the intended pickup.

Why booking ahead helps. Andrea prepares each bike around the confirmed riders, adding the requested accessories and checking the setup before collection. These are recommended minimum lead times, not a guarantee of availability; earlier requests are advisable for performance bikes, groups and longer rentals.

How a one-day rental is calculated

A one-day rental means one calendar day and is charged at the full one-day price, regardless of the pickup time or the number of hours used. For example, collecting a bike at 15:00 and returning it at 18:00 on the same day still uses the one-day rate. There is no standard half-day or hourly rate.

The one-day rate is not a rolling 24-hour rental: collecting a bike at 17:00 does not automatically allow return at 17:00 the following day. The bike must be returned on the agreed calendar day and by the confirmed return time. A different arrangement is possible only when Andrea expressly confirms it in writing, based on availability and his ability to manage the collection and return.

02 · Pickup and use

Identification, bike check and responsible use.

Bring a valid identity document. At pickup, you and Bike Rental Bologna check the bicycle and supplied equipment. Use the bike carefully, only for its intended purpose, and comply with Italian road rules. The bike may not be transferred to another person or used commercially without written agreement.

The rider confirms having the physical ability and experience required for the selected bicycle and route. Minors may ride only under the responsibility of an accompanying adult and under the signed agreement.

03 · Damage, breakdown and return

Contact us immediately if something changes.

The renter is responsible for the bicycle and accessories from pickup until accepted return. In the event of a breakdown or unsafe condition, stop riding immediately, contact Bike Rental Bologna and agree the recovery, repair or return arrangements before taking any action. Damage, late return and any related charge follow the Rental Agreement signed in the Bologna shop.

04 · Payment

Clear payment and cancellation rules before you confirm.

Requests received more than 60 days before pickup remain provisional: no payment is collected, the bicycle is not confirmed and availability is not guaranteed. At 60 days before pickup, availability is checked again. A 50% advance payment confirms the rental and is required for later requests too, including a request made the day before pickup.

When the rental is confirmed at least 60 days before pickup, a 10% early-booking discount is applied before calculating the advance. This discount cannot be combined with any other offer or reduction. The balance is handled at pickup.

Cancellation and refund

• From 60 to 30 calendar days before pickup, inclusive: 90% refund of the amount paid.
• From 29 to 7 calendar days before pickup, inclusive: 40% refund of the amount paid.
• Less than 7 calendar days before pickup: no refund.

Cancellation must reach Bike Rental Bologna by email or WhatsApp. PayPal fees actually incurred and not recovered are deducted from any refund. An approved refund is issued within 1 working day; subsequent crediting times depend on PayPal and the financial institutions involved.

05 · Prices and cautionary deposits

Current amounts at a glance.

The one-day prices shown below refer to the current pricing season. Longer rentals and some bicycle variants have different rates; open the bike page for the complete price list. The cautionary deposit shown is for one bicycle.

Bring a valid identity document or passport and a physical Visa or Mastercard with PIN. Prepaid Visa and Mastercard cards are accepted when they contain sufficient funds and support pre-authorisation. American Express and virtual cards may be used for payment, but not for the deposit pre-authorisation. If pre-authorisation cannot be completed, the deposit may be provided in cash.

For two or more bicycles, the cautionary deposit is calculated using the current quantity brackets shown in each deposit document. Andrea confirms the final rental price and deposit in writing before pickup.

Important banking notice. At return, Bike Rental Bologna charges the final rental price and immediately submits the request to release the remaining deposit, except for documented amounts due for damage, breakage or other obligations under the signed agreement. The time required for the release to appear on the card account is determined exclusively by the card issuer, acquiring bank, card network and their processing cycles. Bike Rental Bologna cannot control or accelerate those banking times.
